Founded in 2016, Hyperspace Command Force (HCF) is a hip-hop dance team based in Northern Virginia, built from passionate members who've come together to continue their craft passed their college days. With audition season right around the corner, I was asked to create a social media flier to help bring in new members to their ever-growing team.
Sketches
Given the freedom to create a flier that followed the relative image that the team's social media and name showcase, my rough sketches and brainstorming mainly consisted of space or sci-fi-themed elements. Being "command force" and opening up to auditions, I thought giving the fliers an almost cinematic vibe would be fun by adding black borders on the top and bottom, giving a movie-esque premiere vibe. Using these black borders to provide added dimension to the graphic, I created these sketches where the main graphic protrudes above the borders as if it's popping out.
Drafts to Final
After receiving input from the team, we decided to go forward with the design featuring the inside of a spaceship looking at a hologram of Earth. With this version of the flier, I felt it would be perfect for the team named Hyperspace Command Force to have an audition flier themed around a command center inside a spaceship. While this flier would be presented like a full-length movie screen on social media such as Facebook, taking advantage of Instagram's seamless carousel allows for a more engaging experience for those interested. After a few color swatch changes and reformatting, we finally agreed on the final flier to garner new members for the 2024 HCF team!
